The Inkundla Open Mic series began in March 2024 with a simple belief: the creative spirit of Sierra Leone doesn’t just live in Freetown. It lives in Lunsar, Foredugu, Kenema, Bo, Waterloo, and Blama. Wherever we have set up a mic, artists have shown up.

These are grassroots events — no big budgets, no gatekeepers. Poets, musicians, and storytellers share work shaped by their lived realities. The audience responds. Something gets built. The open mics have run in communities that rarely see this kind of space, and that is the point.

The provincial series ran through 2025, with events in Lunsar, Foredugu, Kenema, Bo, Waterloo, and Blama. The Freetown edition is currently paused while we work on funding to bring it back. The mic will be back.
