Heat 1: 10 February 2024

The inaugural heat of the Rise & Riot Poetry Slam was magic. Seventeen poets graced the stage, passionately raising their voices to advocate for free expression, challenge realities, and share their deepest feelings through the art of spoken word poetry. Following three intense rounds of captivating performances, Overdose emerged as the first champion of Rise & Riot, with Zeefa and Monica Jackson securing the positions of first and second runners-up respectively. Heat 2: 13 March 2024

The 2nd heat of Rise & Riot All poetry slam(all female) was small and magical. Of the ten poets that signed up, only three came for the slam and they brought bars.

In another lifetime,we would have called the slam off because of low attendance and those who dedicated time to it would have been disappointed, so we did things in favor of the three posts and the audience that was there.

We tweaked the rules and format of the slam for the three poets because our goal is to hold these and more spaces for the people that show up. Even if one poet had come, the slam would have taken place.

Congratulations to Karry for emerging as champion of the 2nd heat of Rise & Riot Poetry Slam. Congratulations to Admire Bonni and Just Gifted for being the runner ups. We love you ladies.
